Police have confirmed that there has been a shooting at the World Changers Church International Church in Atlanta Ga. The police spokesman says that the suspect allegedly shot at the congregation during services in the chapel of the church.
Fulton County Police have stated that at least one person was shot this morning (Wednesday) inside the church, located in College Park. The victim was rushed to Fulton Medical Center, where he later died. Both McNair Elementary School and Bethune Elementary School are currently on lock down because of the manhunt following the incident. Police are still searching for the suspect, a black male.
Readers may remember Creflo Dollar’s recent brush with the law when his daughter reported him for child abuse. Apparently, the then 15 year old was angry with her father because he would not allow her to go out at midnight to a party with men over aged 21. The daughter called 911 on her father, and when the police arrived on the scene they found the child with a “scratch on her neck.” Dollar was arrested on charges of simple battery, family violence, and child cruelty.
In his first comments after spending twelve hours in jail, Dollar stated, “I want the church family to know that all is well in the Dollar household.” Although the daughter claimed that Dollar had punched her, there was no evidence to support this claim. Dollar admitted to choking her, but stated that he did not punch her. Today’s shooting is not suspected to be in connection with this incident.
Fulton County Fire officials have confirmed that the victim of the shooting was a 48 year old church employee whose name has not yet been released. The suspect is said to be a black man in his 30s, wearing a suit and tie. The mega-church boasts of 30,000 members and has a service at 10am on Wednesdays.
